Bug eyed Digital Camera Hemispherical digital camera inspired by bug’s eye for 180-degree snap Research held at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Northwestern University had led to the development of hemispherical digital camera. This peculiar camera contains nearly 200 tiny lenses which deliver an exceptional wide- angle field of view with sharp images. This camera is very much similar to that of fly eye as it is a rounded half bubble. It has 180 microlenses on it and these allow taking pictures nearly 180 degree. This new technology can also be used for endoscopic imaging. The researchers say that it would be very easy to get 360-degree view by combining two hemispheres. Each small eye consist of microlens and microscale  photodetector , which itself  have a separate imaging system. And this helps in having a clear 180-degree snap.
